Hi, I’m S.K. Fishback. root + thrive coaching is my love note to the twists and turns of life — and an invitation for you to write yours. I help people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and build a life aligned with their truth. It’s a sacred honor, and it lights me up every single day.
For years I moved fast: competitive sports, Silicon Valley tech, business school, one ladder after another. Then motherhood arrived, and with it, a slow unraveling I didn’t see coming — mystery symptoms that built, chapter by chapter, until one day I woke up bedridden, wondering if this was my life. It came as a shock. It was also, somehow, a gift. Slowing down — for years — invited me to reinhabit myself and lovingly confront my blocks and patterns in a way that speed and efforting never had.
Initially, I pursued coach training to find the community, knowledge and tools to support my physical recovery, but found I wanted to go deeper. I continued training, adding in mindset work, emotional mastery, and somatic tools to get to the root, trying it all on myself first. The resulting shifts have been deep and integrated in a way I didn’t imagine possible. It changed how I understood personal power and growth and, paradoxically, taught me to treasure my edges. All of this has flowered into root + thrive — a broader transformation coaching practice rooted in the same principles that changed my own life.
Now I get to share this work with others, and I don’t take that lightly. Holding space for others to allow their vision to come to life is one of the great honors of my life. I’m endlessly grateful for the path that led me here.
Earning a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. with a focus in Social Entrepreneurship from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University informed the way I think.
I’m a Mastery Method Coach through Alyssa Nobriga’s ICF-accredited Institute for Coaching Mastery. Alyssa worked as a licensed psychotherapist for 20 years and brings a depth and breadth of tools to coaching that are, in my experience, astonishing and profoundly supportive.
Though I focus more broadly, I’m certified as a Functional Medicine Health Coach through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA), created in partnership with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), which is fully approved by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC).
